Last day for the Bird!

Last day for the Bird!

So, This was the 'Birds last stand. They only made it to Memorial Day weekend this year; I think part of that is because of the construction of the new lift in Peruvian Gulch. Oh, well...I'm excited for that lift to open next year. I couldn't round up any troopers for this one, but i met some fun people on the lift, which is always nice. There was the girl slangin' tequilla, the kid who had no idea you could hit a jump as big as the Q-hit, and the liftes asking for beer. Good Times! I just wish the Bone, the Croin, Deckle, and Junebug could've been here! As it is, I said farewell to the 'Bird solo. See you next season!

We are the brave souls who attempt the ride to the base without riding the tram down. It actually wasn't that bad

The lift pole got in the way here. It was a cool shot while i was stopped, though.

I just wanted a photo of the snow encrusted trees. It's Memorial day weekend, and they still got 5 inches of snow. Fantastic!

So, that rock band in the middle of the photo had a HUGE hit over the whole thing. I redeemed myself today; my best move was a straight indy grab over the whole thing. Damn it felt good!

Yes, it was crowded; it was as busy as christmas weekend, but as you can see, it wasn't so bothersome.

The snow is getting slim on the ridge. Good thing i have a board i don't care about; I could hit rocks for the hell of it!

I love the spring in Utah! Take your pick of which activity you want, and it's here. Snowboarding, golf, climbing, biking, disc golf, bar-be-que, camping, drinking beer on the porch... We chose snowboarding this weekend, with bar-be-que afterwards, and some drinking beer on the porch. There might be two weekends left of the 'Bird; hopefully the disc golf at solitude isn't far behind. Viva!

The lower part of Little Cottonwood Canyon is gorgeous right now. It's so lush with waterfalls all over the place, which contrasts nicely with the grey granite.

Yes, the snow is getting a bit light at the bottom of Gadzoom. I'm hoping for one, maybe two more weekends this season. At least!

Well, it's 11:00 pm, and the candle is still burning strong. I hope this isn't too personal, but I think the only people that look at my blog are good friends or a few random others. This week my girlfriend's father passed away, and i couldn't make it to the service, so i lit a candle at the time of the service and it's still going. I didn't know him that well, but i knew him enough to know that he was a good guy. The guys that go along with the flow of life, like to have fun and enjoy their time here, and are accepting of the different walks of life. My best wishes go to the family. It makes you wonder about the quality and amount of time we all have; I hope we all appreciate the people that are in our lives and that we hold close. I'm not sure how to end this...so i'll just say that Mr. Blum will be missed.  Posted by Picasa

Here's the aftermath. As soon as i would lean forward, the thing would buckle and send me on my head. I guess the helmet was a good idea this year! Posted by Picasa

This is how I felt talking to the Altoids that have taken over the Bird. Damn! Posted by Picasa

Yeah, so, last weekend was my 30th birthday, good God! Actually that part doesn't bother me; there's nothing you can do about it except, enjoy! There're were many good things and a couple of BAD things. My girlfriend had to leave on a family emergency. That put a damper on the mood right away. I had a collision with an Altoid, and all her Altoid friends started ganging up on me. That's a long story, and quiet an anoying one. I busted my snowboard right above the front binding later that day, (I mean it snapped!); and had to ride switch for the last few runs, while avoiding lost Altoid-Wankers. GOOD STUFF WAS...My girlfriend actually made it up the first night.(smootch!). We had fantastic food. We had three(!) balconies, one with a hot tub. The roof-top pool was heated, some kind of salt water, and had spectacular views. Alot of close friends (miss you bone-jah, Deckle, and Kendra, to name a few). And there's still snow up here for cinco de mayo! Thank you all that made it, miss all you that couldn't. I know i'm forgetting some of the GOODs right now; (the birthday cake was good, too!) Posted by Picasa
