Baseball season is upon us!

Baseball season is upon us!

Yeah, I know it started a while ago, but this is the first game that we made it to. I especially like the half price admission and $2 beers! Now that's a fantastic way to spend a summer evening.

No, these aren't all ours. Since good old Larry Miller bought the team, they stop serving beer at the start of the 6th inning! The Sixth! What are they thinking. So needless to say, us and the people around us were stocking up for the last few innings. At least it was $2 beer night, (which was $1 before you-know-who bought the team).

Farewell!

Farewell!
Originally uploaded by latejc1976.

So, this last weekend, my girlfriend and I went to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for one night. We left SLC, stayed in Moab, and then trecked to Colorado and back to Moab. That is a georgous part of the world. I love redrock country, and the San Juans are my third favorite mountain range, after the Wasatch and the Beartooths, of course. I didn't realize how remote Telluride is before this trip. Not only could I not afford to live in Telluride, I'm not sure if I'd want to. Nice place to visit, though! This is a photo of the Orris and Boonis bidding us farewell, although i'm not sure if either is voluntary. Just look at Boonis' face! Or the orris' for that matter...or mine...or Junebug's.... it's just a strange picture.

These cows threatened to charge us, and I didn't know what the hell to do. Do you rev the engine and charge, or does that piss them off even more? I had a couple of deer jump out in front of us after this as well.

I think the hardest part of this drive was being able to see exactly where you need to go, yet it's so far away.

I liked the school bus that took us to and from the Festival. I think the guy in blue may have just realized that someone used his beer as an ashtray.

Now this is a happy man. Either he just realized he could finally break wind, or those red beads mean something I don't know.

I'm glad we weren't camping here. I don't think I could handle bluegrass from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00.

Well, how are we supposed to play sack? What about 'no hackey-sack on whiskey'? That would be funner to watch!

Something about Colorado and Hippies. Thank God no one asked me for change the whole time. I like this photo, though.

Here I am leaving one of the most crowded campgrounds ever. I don't think i could last four days here, especially since i'm not a big fan of bluegrass. If I could choose the line-up, and have all of my best friends close-by, sure. But bluegrass and hippies?...I think i need some Mclusky after that show!

So, this sign is confusing. It could mean
a) no man crotch
b)no looking at that man's crotch
c)something only texas' who have summer homes in telluride would understand. Maybe strange men lean around their homes, thust thrusting their crotches outward. And we want none of that.

Yeah, it was the top of the gondola. I still have yet to ride in Colorado.

good camping

We found a prime camping spot right by slickrock. It could fit 4 tents at least. Where is the Bone, Croin, Deckle and K, and the Orris? Let's plan a trip. After the summer heat, of course.

Entering Arches

Entering Arches
Originally uploaded by latejc1976.

I love the enterance to this park. At the beginning you have the huge redrock cliff in front of you, and then it opens up into this amazing valley. I recommend a full moon trip. Each hike is doable by moonlight. And it's not hot. "Give me a wet one." That what you say when all the beer in the cooler is no longer cool, it's just wet.

Here's a quick road side shot of one of the amazing formations in the park. Arches has become a second home to me as far as National parks go; we know exactly where we want to go when we enter. Although this time we noticed a hike called 'the cove of caves'. Something new for next time!

Yeah! It's time for disc golf again! We're out practice, but that's to be expected. Quiet a pleasant way to spend a summer afternoon.

This was a great show, and we had the random experience of meeting the lead singer out front when we got off the trax. We invited him over for a beer and a shot before the show, but he took us up on the offer after the show. Along with the rest of the band. Good times! The best part was when my friend called to see where we were at and he answered with "What's up, baby?... Yeah I'm going to the show; I'm playing!"

Here's the aftershow hang out. All the guys in the band were really down to earth and cool to hang out with. It's nice to meet a good rock and roll band where the people are just friendly and just want to chill and have a beer afterwards. Viva Eagles of Death Metal!

Horseshoes

Horseshoes
Originally uploaded by latejc1976.

Nice. Spring is here, or technically summer i guess with the heat goin on. We decided to give horseshoes a try at the 'hidden pits' in Sugerhouse park. I need some good summer activities now that the 'Bird is closed. I think the Solitude disc golf course opens next weekend; so we'll be the hardcore people there on the opening day! Viva summer!
